ACE Vacutherapies™ (vacuum therapy) or ACE Massage Cupping™is not an irritant to the skin or body and can be used for all ages in a variety of applications and benefits on acute and chronic conditions. Using specialized cups and a suction device, it draws the inflammation out from deep in the tissues to be released into the lymphatic system. The skin can turn red with strong movements, indicating that circulation has been brought to the surface, stimulating natural elasticity. Increased local blood supply to the muscles and skin will bring nourishment and allow for toxins to be carried away via the lymph vessels.

The action on the nervous system is sedating and is beneficial for those with high blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, chronic headaches, fibromyalgia and neuralgia. Conditions of chronic and acute pain can be relieved with minimal discomfort and tense muscles softened quickly and easily. It is wonderfully effective to release restrictions in fascia and scar tissue reduction along with painful joint issues.

Another effective application is in the treatment of cellulite. A very light suction provides drainage of stagnant fluids, while heavier application can be used to stimulate circulation, shift tissue PH, liquefy deposits of Solid Bloat and loosen adhesions or “dimpling.”

Swedish massage is the most common and best known type of massage in the West. The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of long, soft, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic tapping techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. This can also be combined with movement of the joints.

Before the massage, the therapist should ask you about any injuries or other conditions they should know about (such as: areas of tightness or pain, allergies, and conditions like pregnancy). The therapist lubricates the skin and performs these various strokes to warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and breaking up muscle “knots” or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Swedish massage affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, promotes relaxation and eases muscle tension all while promoting health and well-being.

A Couple’s Massage is a customized massage session the length of your choice with a loved one in the same room. Couples massages aren’t just for couples — friends and family members can also enjoy this invigorating experience together. A couples massage is a great way to relax and rejuvenate both you and your loved one!

Hot Stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated basalt stones (an iron-rich type of rock) as an extension of their hands to help relax tired and stressful muscles. The heat from the stones can be deeply relaxing and help to warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly. It will also improve vascular circulation and calm the nervous system.

As the stone cools, the therapist will replace it with another heated one and they may also place and leave the stones on the body while they massage other areas. The therapist generally uses stones of various shapes and sizes –typically bigger stones on the larger muscles, smaller stones on smaller areas. Hot stone massage is therefore a favorable manner of healing and relaxation.

Pregnancy massage (also called Pre-Natal massage) is a therapeutic massage specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs. Studies indicate that massage therapy performed on the mother during pregnancy addresses many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts during pregnancy. It can also reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains as well as improve labor outcomes and overall newborn health.

Along with the guidance and advice of a prenatal care provider, women can begin Pre-natal Massage therapy after their 1st trimester and incorporate it into their prenatal care routine. The mother’s body will be properly positioned and supported during the massage, using pillows and padding. Proper positioning ensures comfort and safety for the mother and baby.

Aromatherapy is an ancient science using essential oils derived from many different plants and their parts for healing, relaxing and energizing the body. Aromatherapy massage uses a blend of these aromatic oils during the session to affect your mood and help alleviate pain. The subtle aroma of the essential oils fills the air around you during the massage.

After the consultation, one or more essential oils are selected based on your needs and mixed in with the massage oil or lotion. After the massage, the therapist may suggest a blend that you can use at home in between massage treatments.

Massage therapy itself has many physical and emotional benefits to the body. The addition of a safe and aromatic essential oil blend can enhance your overall experience.

Myofascial techniques (Connective Tissue Massage) are specialized stretching techniques used by therapists to treat patients with a variety of soft tissue problems. This soft tissue can become restricted due to disease, overuse, trauma, infectious agents, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension, and corresponding diminished blood flow. This restriction can be transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body, causing pain and a variety of other symptoms in areas you often wouldn’t expect.

To understand how it works, you have to understand a little about fascia. Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue that provides support and protection for most structures within the human body, including muscle. Fascia is a thin tissue that covers every muscle and every fiber within each muscle. Myofascial restrictions can create pressure on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.) Myofascial techniques treat these symptoms by releasing the uneven tightness in injured fascia.

“Ashi” means foot & “Atsu” means pressure.

Receive the ultimate rejuvenation in this session where the therapists uses their body weight with deep flowing pressure directed through the bare feet. Smooth, flowing, gliding, techniques are applied on lubricated skin to provide an intensely deep, and amazingly relaxing therapeutic massage. Clients receive anything from moderate pressure to very deep work without the pain and discomfort that often accompanies the use of a therapist’s thumbs or elbows.

Ashiatsu massage provides a deeper relaxation of chronically tight muscles without the discomfort associate with some Deep Tissue Massage.

Deep Tissue massage is a type of therapeutic massage that focuses on realigning deeper layers of tissue to “unstick” the fibers of a muscle. It is both corrective and therapeutic and especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. The movement is slower and the pressure is deeper than a typical massage and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Deep Tissue massage works by physically breaking down adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction. It is important to tell the massage therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside your comfort range. There is usually some stiffness or pain after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or so. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two. The massage therapist may recommend applying ice to the area after the massage.

Sports Massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance. Sports massage can be used pre-performance, post-performance, during training or for rehabilitation. It emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. If you are a competitor of any level and looking for a way to improve your athletic performance you may benefit from Sports Massage.

The main purpose of Sports Massage is to help alleviate stress and tension, drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, promote flexibility and reduce muscle tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. The different movements and techniques used are trying to help the athlete’s body achieve maximum performance and physical conditioning with a decreased chance of injury or pain and a quicker recovery. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, Sports Massage can break them down quickly and effectively.

Trigger points are described as hyper-irritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. It is called a trigger point because it “triggers” a painful response. Compression of a Trigger point at the most tender spot produces aching or a local twitch response at other predictable locations of the body away from the point. This is called referred pain, and it can be a very annoying and perplexing problem.

Trigger points are small, localized muscle cramps with a variety of causes, most notably excessive loads, direct trauma, or repetitive or prolonged muscle contractions. The therapist will locate and deactivate them using direct finger pressure. It will probably be uncomfortable so make sure to communicate with the therapist during the session. It took a while to get the muscle in that condition, and it will likely take multiple sessions to get rid of it.

Paraffin wax is a soft mineral wax that provides a relaxing, moisturizing treatment for dry or cracked hands and feet.  It can also be used as a heat therapy treatment for muscle, tendon and ligament ailments.  Our treatment includes the paraffin wax treatment and massage on your choice of the hands, feet or both that can be done by itself or incorporated with a massage.

Application:  The hands or feet are dipped into a tub of warm (125* – 135* F) paraffin wax — often two or three times — to create a thick coating that will retain heat for several minutes. As the wax hardens, the paraffin’s natural emollient softens skin and the heat opens pores. When the cooled wax is pulled away from the skin, it also removes dead skin cells, leaving skin smoother.

Benefits:

  • The heat helps increase blood flow and relax the muscles, which can help relieve pain and stiffness caused by arthritis, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.
  • Paraffin wax can even soften hardened skin caused by scleroderma by increasing the skin’s elasticity, allowing for increased movement and mobility, especially on the skin covering the hands.
  • Paraffin treatments increase blood flow, improve joint stiffness and reduce pain for muscle, tendon and ligament ailments including bursitis, tendonitis, sprains and pulled muscles.
  • The waterproofing effect of the wax is a moisturizer by providing a protective coating on the skin to retain the natural oils produced by your body.
  • The removal of the wax takes away dead skin cells leaving soft, smooth skin.
